That is definitely a possible screen of death. It is fixable, it may be a bad screen connection as I had an iPod do this. I threw it down a couple times and it fixed itself. Lol. I don’t recommend this, I only did it because the device is really old and got used to it, to begin with.
You may be able to have the screen and/or the digitizer replaced for about $80-100, if done through a third party. Apple charges $129 for a screen replacement. It’s not too expensive.
If it’s more than the screen, however, it may mean a new device. Hopefully, it’s just the screen which is an easy fix and it’s not too bad in cost.
